Training on Resource Efficiency in the Chemical Sector
TRAINING HELD ON RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN CHEMICAL SECTOR
Kocaeli Chamber of Industry (KSO) and TÜBİTAK MRC Environment and Cleaner Production Institute jointly carried out Training on Resource Efficiency in the Chemical Sector” on March 6, 2015.
Held in Kocaeli Chamber of Industry’s Conference Hall, the one-day training was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Kocaeli University, various institutions and organizations.
Quality and Environment Expert Aynur Hacifettahoğlu delivered the opening speech on behalf of KSO. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kitiş, Director of TÜBİTAK MRC Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, made an opening speech informing the participants about the institute's structure, activities, and efforts. He emphasized that the institute could undertake joint projects with the public and private sector and that they were ready for cooperation.
Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Göksel Niyazi Demirer, a METU Faculty Member, provided the participants with information on current developments and approaches to sustainability and resource efficiency, conceptual framework of cleaner production, relevant application methods, approaches, and audits, the Turkish chemical sector, a cleaner production example: UNIDO eco-efficiency program, resource efficiency, sustainability activities and examples of cleaner production practices in the chemical sector. The afternoon session included practical training on cleaner production.
