Cleaner Production Training Programs in Tokat
CLEANER PRODUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM WAS HELD IN TOKAT
TÜBİTAK MRC Environment and Cleaner Production Institute and Tokat Provincial Directorate of Science and Industry and Technology jointly held “Cleaner Production Training-Soil Sector Application,” “Cleaner Production Training-Textile Sector Application” and “Cleaner Production Training-Food Sector Application” on March 29, 2017, and March 30, 2017, with 135 participants.
The training was organized for the Soil, Textile and Food sectors as three separate programs. Training for the Soil Sector was carried out in Erbaa Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erbaa district where the industry was most concentrated, whereas the Textile and Food sector training programs were held in Tokat Organized Industrial Zone İŞGEM and Gaziosmanpaşa University, respectively. These training programs aimed to increase awareness of cleaner production, resource efficiency and industrial symbiosis concepts in Tokat and its districts.
As part of the cleaner production training programs on Manufacture, Textile and Food sectors, Halil İbrahim Yüksel, Tokat Provincial Director General of Science, Industry and Technology, provided information about the current states and requirements of these sectors. Then, information was provided about TÜBİTAK and its affiliated institutes, the works and activities of the Strategic Cleaner Production Business Unit, which functioned as a National Cleaner Production Center. It was stated that the National Cleaner Production Center aimed to develop R&D and Production and Development projects, to identify the current resource consumption of the enterprises through practical training programs and activities, and to support regional development by revealing cleaner production opportunities. The following part provided information regarding the concepts of Cleaner Production, Resource Efficiency and Industrial Symbiosis as well as best practices implemented in Turkey and abroad. In addition, TÜBİTAK MRC ECPI team, who conducts Cleaner Production Audits for enterprises, explained the cleaner production audit stages and its benefits to the enterprises with examples. The also referred to cleaner production opportunities in the Soil, Textile and Food sectors offering the participants best practices from around the world and Turkey.
Academics, university students, and sector representatives showed great interest in these training programs. In addition to providing training programs, the National Cleaner Production Center team paid technical visits to the facilities of Dörtler Kablo San. Şti., Şık Makas Giyim San. ve T.A.Ş., Trelleborg Tokat Endüstriyel Hortumlar San. ve Tic. Şti., Doğan Tuğla Kiremit Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd. Şti. and DİMES Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
